Step 1

Open the map view

The map starts with the property area and the records that have location context.

Step 2

Switch to satellite context

Satellite imagery helps make buildings, fields, rows, and systems easier to place.

Step 3

Review marked places

Markers show where key places, systems, and records live on the homestead.

Step 4

Open details from the map

Map popovers help move from a location to the record that explains what is there.

Step 5

Trace your property line

Tap the corners of your property on the satellite map to draw its boundary and see the acreage. If you know the acreage from your deed or survey, enter it and the app shows that figure everywhere instead of the map’s estimate. Property boundaries are included in the Free plan.

Step 6

Draw pastures and other areas

Draw pastures and other named areas, each in its own color with its own acreage. Link a pasture to a Place and its acreage shows on that Place’s page.

Step 7

Draw fence lines

Draw fence lines to see how many feet of fence you have. Link a fence line to a Fence or Gate item to keep the two together.

Step 8

See fence length on the item

Once a fence line is linked, the Fence or Gate item shows how many feet of fence it covers.

Step 9

Walk the line

Walk a fence or boundary with your iPhone and drop corners from GPS as you go, or let the app add a point every 25, 50, or 100 feet. Location is used only while you are walking a line.
